Multiple Stabbings at Southeast Memphis Apartments

A mother and her two young daughters were rushed to area hospitals after a stabbing at a southeast Memphis apartment complex late Thursday afternoon.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Three victims were taken to area hospitals after a stabbing at a southeast Memphis apartment complex late Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to the Eastwood Park Apartments on Getwell Road near Knight Arnold around 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 14. Investigators say a man stabbed his young nieces and injured their mother when she ran to their aid.

The 37-year-old woman was transported to The MED with non-critical injuries. Her daughters, ages 7 and 8, were taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in critical condition but have since been upgraded to non-critical.

Investigators are still on the scene working to determine what led to the stabbing, but neighbors told abc24.com that they had been complaining for months about the man talking inappropriately to children at the complex.

The suspect is in police custody; charges are still pending.
