NBA Fans From Overseas Visit Memphis

Less than 24 hours from the first home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and fans are ready.
MEMPHIS, TN - Less than 24 hours from the first home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and fans are ready. Grizz nation has taken over Memphis, but Thunder fans are starting to rumble.

Luke Allen and his friends are visiting the States from the U.K. They made a special trip to Memphis for the big game. "It's our first NBA game that we've gone to so I'm really looking forward to it."

Allen was spotted in downtown Memphis wearing a Thunder hat. "I'm a big Kevin Durant fan," he says, "I like how he sponsors Gatorade." Allen's friend, Darren Fields agrees, "I like the idea of being in the Grizzlies backyard and rooting for the Thunder... I like going for the underdog."

Despite their allegiance, they're exactly the kind of people the Chamber of Commerce is hoping this worldwide exposure attracts. Andre Dean, the Chamber's Vice President of Public Policy and Community Affairs says, "The Grizzlies are already an economic juggernaut for our city. They bring in over $200 million in investment in the city... more importantly when the teams narrow down, the amount of exposure we get is tremendous."

The exposure brings NBA fans to the city from near and far. "There are a lot of people that come in from all over." Dean says, "We are one of only 30 franchises, there are only a few teams left."

Everyone is welcome in Memphis, even if they are cheering for the wrong team.
