Neighbors Defend Woman who Filed Klan Rally Permit

Tamra Crowder filed the application last week. Neighbors tell ABC 24 News they're not bothered by it; everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Neighbors are defending the woman who submitted an application for a KKK rally permit.

Tamra Crowder filed the application last week. Crowder listed a home on Maria Street in the Berclair area as her home address.

Carl Range lives on Maria. He told abc24.com, "I'm not really against KKK rally. If they want to come to Memphis and do their thing, that's fine with me. I don't have objection to it… They have their own right and I've got my own right."

It's not clear whether Crowder lives on Maria. Range says he doesn't know her but he does see people coming and going from the home.

No one answered the door at the home on Maria. Crowder also has an address in Olive Branch, but no luck there either.

Another neighbor, John Free, says Crowder is free to believe and support whatever she chooses.

"Everybody's entitled to their opinion, that's all I can say," he said. "That's their business, I'm just here to live my life."

If the permit is approved by the city, the rally will be held March 30.
