New DeSoto Sheriff Station Helps Deputies Patrol the County

The new space lets deputies check in for work without having to drive to Hernando. That will not only save time, but wear and tear on department cars.
DESOTO COUNTY, MS -- DeSoto's sheriff is promising better protection for the eastern part of the county.

The department's new Olive Branch substation is fully up and running.

It's behind a car dealership off Craft Road.

The new space lets deputies check in for work without having to drive to Hernando. That will not only save time, but wear and tear on department cars.

It's also completely free to the county, donated by a local businessman

"Brian Chapman. He is the man who donated this space to us," says Sheriff Bill Rasco. "He's not making us pay rent. He's paying for the lights, the water, the sewer. Everything. It's just a benefit for us."

Deputies patrol more than 60 subdivisions in Olive Branch. They'll now be able to spend more time in those neighborhoods.
