SOMERVILLE, TN (abc24.com) - An investigation is underway to determine what caused a small plane to go down on Interstate 40 just south of Somerville.

It happened Sunday, January 6, just before 10 p.m. The pilot, Trevor Prather, his brother and some friends were leaving a restaurant in Sikeston, Missouri when the engine started to fail.

Prather says he a little scared when he was given the green light by air traffic controllers to land on the interstate.

"Came in for the landing, looked at the best spot I could pick - kind of dropped in between a car and a semi-truck. Ended up passing the semi truck… pulled in front of him," he stated.

The plane ended up on the side of the road. Luckily nobody was hurt.
