MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Two off duty Memphis police officers were injured when they tried to break up a domestic assault in the parking lot of Remington College.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on March 6 at the school's campus at 2710 Nonconnah. The two officers, who worked security for the school as a second job, were told of a domestic assault in the parking lot and went to intervene. They located the suspect and tried to detain him until police arrived, but the suspect got in his car and sped towards the guards, hitting both men as they fired at the suspect.
Several windows were shot out of the car, but it's not known if the suspect was hit; he fled the scene and remains at large.
One officer was treated for minor injuries on the scene. The second officer was transported to Methodist South in non-critical condition.
