Patient Steals Ambulance, Arrested at Community College

A patient at Lakeside being treated at St. Francis in Bartlett is now behind bars after he stole an ambulance Tuesday afternoon.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A patient at Lakeside being treated at St. Francis in Bartlett is now behind bars after he stole an ambulance Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called to the hospital around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23. Hospital staff told investigators Jeffrey Densford was brought in for treatment while in the custody of a Lakeside counselor for injuries sustained while intentionally hitting his head against a wall.

Densford was separated from the counselor to have a scan performed, and was able to slip out of the room. When he exited the building, he stole an unattended ambulance with the keys in the ignition.

Memphis police and Shelby County Sheriff's deputies were called to assist, and the ambulance GPS led officers to the Macon campus of Southwest Tennessee Community College. Densford was taken into custody and taken by Memphis police and the ambulance was returned.

Charges are still pending against Jeffrey Densford.
