Paula Deen Admits To Using Racial Slur

TUNICA, MS (localmemphis.com) - Paula Deen is trying to clean up the kitchen after whipping up some racial comments.

"I love her cooking, the cook show. So you know it will make me think twice about looking at her again or even visiting the restaurant," said Veronica Finnie.

The kitchen may be getting too hot for celebrity chef Paula Deen. This week, a videotaped deposition surfaced that shows her admitting to using the "n" word. That deposition was part of a lawsuit brought on by a former employee who claims Deen used racial slurs against her.

The queen of southern cuisine has several restaurants around the country, including one in Tunica, where people want to keep race out of the buffet line.

"I think it's inappropriate. I don't think she should be using that word," said Eddie Hanley.

"It's inappropriate but I don't know about lawsuits. People have gotten so crazy over a lot of stuff," said Kathy Beebe. "She sticks her foot in her mouth. That's just what she does."

Not only did the former employee slap Deen with a lawsuit, her brother is being sued as well for sexual and racial workplace discrimination. It's a $1.2 million lawsuit.

"That's something that's supposed to be dead and she bringing it back to life like that. That's no good," said Earl Cummings.

The Food Network issued a statement saying they to not tolerate any form of discrimination.
