Police Arrest Two In Overnight Standoff

The man accused of holding cops at bay overnight in South Memphis is locked up and facing a number of charges.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - The man accused of holding cops at bay overnight in South Memphis is locked up and facing a number of charges.

It all started Thursday in Southaven, Mississippi.

Police tried to arrest a man wanted in the burglary of a T- Mobile store.

Officers said the guy was in an SUV and the driver tried to run over an officer and ram squad cars while trying to take off.

Police chased the SUV into this South Memphis neighborhood.

The two people inside jumped out and ran off. Investigators said the burglary suspect ran into a home.

Negotiators and SWAT team members spent more than an hour trying to talk him out.

Just before two Friday morning, the SWAT team moved in and arrested him.

Clifton Spencer is charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Officers said the woman who was driving is Kadijah Wilson.

She's charged with aggravated assault on an officer and felony fleeing.

Investigators say more charges are pending.

Both remain behind bars at the Shelby County Jail, waiting to be extradited back to Mississippi.
