MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Memphis police have identified the man shot by officers Monday afternoon as 33-year-old Johnny Taylor.

Police were responding to a 911 hang-up call on the 5000-block of Parkside Avenue around 6 p.m. on Monday, July 1. While en route, they were told an armed suspect was shooting inside the home, and had gotten involved in a fight with a neighbor.

When officers arrived on the scene, Taylor was hiding behind a car in the driveway with a gun. Police ordered him to drop his weapon, but instead Taylor stood up and began firing at the officers. That's when one officer fired back with a shotgun, killing Taylor.
