Problems Continue For Obamacare Enrollment

Bedeviled by technology glitches that frustrated millions of consumers, the Obama administration is taking down its health overhaul website for repairs this weekend.
MEMPHIS, TN ( Computer glitches caused many delays for people wanting to sign up for new health insurance on Tuesday. The government says technical problems and high traffic caused the problems for is the main site where Americans go to to buy their new insurance. The problem is, when you go to apply, almost everyone is getting a trouble shooting screen.

If you've tried applying for health insurance you know what it says.

"We have a lot of visitors on the site right now. Please stay on this page. We'll send you to the login page as soon as we can. Thanks for your patience!"

We stayed on the page for five hours, never getting through.

We followed the site's advice that told us to call a Marketplace representative about applying over the phone. That didn't work either.

We talked with a very nice representative who told us he had to go through the same website we did and faced the same wait.

"The whole country seems to be confused," says Muhammad Ziyad.

"I don't think it's a matter of the government failing us," says Elta Woodliff. "I think it's a matter of more people inquiring about it than they anticipated."

"They are always unorganized on something," Ziyad says. "Things always seem to be going haywire."

The advice we were given? Be patient and keep trying.

"I think people who are really interested in this are going to pursue it. It's like anything else, if you need it, you're going to do what it take to get it," says Woodliff.

The Obama administration is taking down the website for repairs this weekend. Enrollment functions of the site will be unavailable during off-peak hours, the Health and Human Services Department said Friday. The department did not release a schedule of hours of operation, but an HHS spokeswoman said the site would be taken down at 1:00 a.m. EST each night for a few hours.

The website will remain open for general information.
