MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Clarence Mumford, Jr. pleaded guilty Tuesday to aiding and abetting identification fraud as part of a multi-state test-taking scam for teacher certification exams.

Investigators say he had someone else take a teaching exam on his behalf, then used that exam to obtain a teaching license from the Tennessee Department of Education. He is the 12th person to plead guilty in the scandal.

His father, Clarence Mumford, Sr., was the ringleader. He pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy charges last month.

Prosecutors estimate as many as 90 tests were taken during the scheme, which they traced back to 1995. The incidents occurred in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi.
