TIPPAH COUNTY, MS (abc24.com) - Who killed Brian Little? It's a question that investigators in Ripley, Mississippi have been trying to answer since January 2009.
The 30-year-old was shot in his home. A witness says his killers had their faces covered. They were able to get away before police arrived. Despite years of working the case, no one has been arrested.
"Pretty much we work on it monthly. Still working on it, trying to figure out who did this," says Chief Deputy Chris McCallister, with the Tippah County Sheriff's Department.
A poster is plastered all over the office. On it is a picture of Little and the question, "Do you know who murdered me?"
"He came home and a couple of masked assailants were in his house waiting on him to get there. They killed him," McCallister says.
It happened around 9 or 10 at night in rural Tippah County.
Another person who was with Little wasn't harmed, but can't help investigators. "They have descriptions, but they're vague. They said they had masks on and didn't know them."
There's a $20,000 reward for helping solve the crime, money that's grown since 2009, but so far the tips haven't.
"Every now and then - I got a tip a couple of weeks ago but it didn't go anywhere," McCallister tells abc24.com. He adds the department tries to keep the investigation fresh, but he worries about the more time it's unsolved.
"It creates complications. The only thing we have to go with is physical evidence and pretty much what the crime scene says. The crime scene usually tells truth, it tells the story. We just have to find out what the story is."
Tippah deputies are working the case with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the state attorney general's office. If you can help, call Mississippi CrimeStoppers at 1-800-773-TIPS (8477).
