Sanitation Workers Meet With City Administration

Memphis sanitation workers met with Monday morning with members of the city administration.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Memphis sanitation workers met with Monday morning with members of the city administration.

They met to bring attention to problems facing the solid waste division including trucks and workers who are long overdue for retirement.

The idea behind Monday's meeting was to inform Memphis citizens of the problem.

The city council is set to vote tomorrow on a measure that would restore pensions for retiring sanitation workers.

It would also allocate funds for outdated equipment to be replaced.

The city is currently using some garbage trucks that are 17-years-old.
