MEMPHIS, TN -- He calls himself a demon fighter. 22-year-old Mabry Guenther faced a Shelby County judge this morning.

He's charged with felony vandalism, accused of tearing apart a Memphis hotel room causing thousands of dollars in damage. Guenther blamed it all on ghosts and demons. The court wants to know more about what's going on in his head.

A judge just ordered Guenther to undergo a mental evaluation.

"He pulled one of our routers out and said it looked like fingers pointing at him through the roof. That's when I knew he was crazy," says Harry Khatrao, an employee at the Airport Inn on Brooks Road.

Khatrao says Guenther created a disaster in room 126, leaving the bathroom in shambles, holes punched in the wall, and the hotel's hallway flooded.

"The microwave was in the tub; the phone in the freezer," he says.

Guenther's behavior was far from normal. His reasoning? He blamed it on the paranormal. According to police, Guenther destroyed the room "because demons were there and ghosts told him he had to let them out."

Police arrested him walking down the road in his boxers and a T-shirt. More than a week later, the damage at the hotel still isn't repaired. It will cost more than $10,000 to fix.

Guenther remains in Shelby County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He's been appointed a public defender. His next court date is July 9th.

this story is so stupid, it barely deserves the respect of receiving even an insulting comment. Ghosts and demons. . . really?? If the dude wasn't simply crazy, he would have opened the door and left the room if the room was the problem.

And nobody commented on THIS yet?! Guenther knows and sees more than we mortals can take. Have mercy.
