Services, Memorial Fund Set for MATA Driver Killed in Accident

Funeral services and a memorial fund have been set for Chantel Sanders, the MATA driver who was killed in an accident on I-240 Tuesday morning.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Funeral services and a memorial fund have been set for Chantel Sanders, the MATA driver who was killed in an accident on I-240 Tuesday morning.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 20, from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Superior Funeral Home, located at 1129 N. Hollywood.

The funeral is Tuesday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at Breath of Life Christian Center, located at 3795 Frayser Raleigh Rd.

MATA has also established a fund to provide financial assistance for Sanders’ son, Marquel D. Downey, for his college education. Marquel will graduate from high school on May 17 and wants to go to college.

“We have received hundreds of calls and emails from the Memphis community, local businesses and transit systems from across the country expressing their condolences for the family of our employee, Chantel Sanders. Because of the outpouring of concern, and most want to make a donation to the family, a fund has been set-up at a bank,” said William Hudson, MATA president and general manager.
