SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - How much more money will he owe? Southaven aldermen are trying to determine how much money Mayor Greg Davis spent on city credit cards.
In a few weeks the state investigation into the case will be going into month number six. The auditor is giving aldermen a deadline.
"The auditor wanted us to clarify some things, that's really what we're doing gathering more information about charges," says Alderman Ronnie Hale. "It's our responsibility. We're the ones that approved dockets. These charges were on each one."
Now, auditors want more input from all seven aldermen, explaining the charges.
"They want us to have a consensus of the board members," Hale says.
It's the second time the board was asked to do this, but this time aldermen are working on deadline. The state wants an answer by March 30th.
"We've got a little bit more work to do. We finished most of everything Tuesday night, we've got a few questions we're trying to get answered before we can give them a final answer," Hale says. "Once we get those last few questions answered it shouldn't take any time at all. We don't think we'll have any problem meeting the 30th deadline."
Once the board submits a report, state auditors are expected to use that information to demand more money from Davis. He's paid $96,000 but still owes at least $63,000.
