SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - A defiant mayor of Southaven says he won't be sending the State Auditor any more money until the state auditor sits down to review tens of thousands of dollars the auditor has deemed questionable.

Mayor Greg Davis says he sent the Auditor a letter in January requesting a sit down meeting to clear up confusion about just how much he owes. In November 2011, the State Auditor gave Mayor Greg Davis 30 days to pay back more than $170,000 in expenses and fees.

Davis has already sent the auditor $96,000 raised through private funds, but said that will be it until a meeting. There was no word Tuesday night from the auditor's office regarding the Mayor's claims.

Maybe the auditor has taken a 60 day sick leave too.

Greg Davis was smug, squinty eyes, and defiant when he was on the TV news yesterday. He really thinks he is above the law. He believes he makes the rules and everyone had better abide by them. Just look at how he treated the citizens who pay his rather large salary. How long does it take for the State Auditor's office to realize that he is a thief and should be charged as such. This whole mess might not end until his term is over.......I can't imagine what condition Southaven will be in by then!
