MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis man told police he was playing too rough with his 2-year-old stepson before the child died at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
Michael Foster, 24, was arrested on Monday, November 12 for the death of his stepson. The child was rushed to Le Bonheur on April 17 after Foster called 911 when the child became unresponsive; he was pronounced dad at the hospital. An autopsy revealed the little boy died from blunt force injuries, including contusions and hemorrhaging of his internal organs.
Foster told investigators they had been playing and wrestling together, and he was swinging the child around in a circle when he fell on the boy's chest. He added nobody else was at their Raleigh home when the incident occurred.
Michael Foster is charged with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse. He is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court November 20.
