MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The man accused of attacking a woman in Arlington during her morning jog had his first court appearance on December 20, 2011.
33-year-old St. Roland Jean-Charles was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempted Kidnapping and Assault.
Shelby County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 12100-block of Longleaf Oak Trail just after 7:00am on Dec. 19. A 50-year old female victim said she saw a shadow coming up behind her while she was jogging and when she turned around, she saw a man running towards her. The suspect hit her in the chest, knocked her to the ground, covered her mouth and tried to drag the woman. She kicked and fought the suspect until he let go and ran away.
The victim ran to a neighbor's home nearby to call 911, and officers located a man matching the attacker's description a short time later. Jean-Charles was arrested after the victim identified him.
St. Roland Jean-Charles was arraigned by video on Dec. 20 and is expected to be released on $30,000 bond. He is scheduled back in court on Jan. 9.
