Suspect Charged in Craigslist Robbery, Shooting

Memphis police have charged a suspect with shooting and robbing an unsuspecting buyer answering a Craigslist ad.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Memphis police have charged a suspect with shooting and robbing an unsuspecting buyer answering a Craigslist ad.

The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, at the McDonald's on N Germantown Pkwy at Trinity Rd. Investigators say the victim arranged to meet a seller on Craigslist there to purchase cell phones, but was robbed and shot multiple times by two suspects.

The victim was transported to The MED in critical condition, but has since been released from the hospital.

Police later arrested Donta Wilson, 23, and charged him with Attempted First Degree Murder. He is being held at the Shelby County jail on a $750,000 bond.

The second suspect was identified at 17-year-old Donovan Dowdy, who is also wanted for another instance of staging a Craigslist sale to rob the buyer at the McDonald's located on N Germantown Pkwy at Dexter Rd.

Dowdy is wanted on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder and Aggravated Robbery. Anyone with information on Donovan Dowdy's whereabouts should call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
