Suspect Found In Aggravated Assault/Kidnapping

On Sunday, August 25, 2013 at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers responded to an Aggravated Assault/Kidnapping call at 872 North Claybrook.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - On Sunday, August 25, 2013 at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers responded to an Aggravated Assault/Kidnapping call at 872 North Claybrook.

Upon arriving on the scene, officers located Victim #1, 50-year-old male, who advised that he and a female acquaintance, Victim #2, 20-year-old Brittney Studway, were at the above location when Studway’s estranged boyfriend arrived. Studway’s estranged boyfriend, 40-year-old Ryan Stokes, reportedly kicked in the front door of the residence, entered, and assaulted Victim#1 and Victim #2. Victim #1 further advised that Stokes grabbed Victim #2 and forced her outside into the suspect’s vehicle. After securing Victim #2 in his vehicle, the suspect returned to the residence and fired a shot through the front door. Victim #1 was not struck by the gunfire.

Officers were provided the pertinent information concerning Ms. Studway and a City Watch was issued.

Investigators were able to obtain additional information concerning Brittney Studway and a potential location of where she may be located. Officers followed up with the obtained information, but the victim was not located. Investigators attempted to contact the victim via cellular phone and did make contact with a female who identified herself at Brittany Studway. The female advised that she has not been kidnapped and that she did not need police assistance. The female further advised that she would report to the Memphis Police Department so that the City Watch could be cancelled. 

At approximately 3:45 pm Monday, Memphs Police were notified that both the victim and suspect were located in Forrest City, Arkansas. The suspect was taken into custody and the victim was found unharmed. Ms. Studway is currently en route to Memphis to speak with investigators. Mr. Stokes will be extradited back to Memphis for further investigation.
