COVINGTON, TN (abc24.com) - Tennessee State Trooper Calvin Jenks, killed in the line of duty five years ago, was honored with a sea of blue in Tipton County. Over a dozen law enforcement and emergency agencies showed up to pay their respects.

"This is an important day for our family," Jenks' father, Norm Jenks, told abc24.com. "This is one of the first times the family has been able to travel to Tipton County and in such a way remember Trooper Calvin Jenks in such a positive manner."

The 24-year-old State Trooper's body was found by two hunters next to his patrol car near the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 54 in Tipton County.

"Just a terrible, terrible situation," Tennessee Highway Patrol Lieutenant Cary Hopkins said of Jenks' murder. "You leave the house every morning and the biggest thing you hope for is to go home safe at night."
