MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Real talk about unplanned pregnancies and teen health was the goal of a health fair Wednesday in Orange Mound. Organizers say they want to educate teens about their bodies and health.

Local groups like United Health-Care and Memphis Teen Vision taught teens how to avoid un-planned pregnancies.

The groups set up booths and workshops that tackled a range of topics, including dating violence and STD's.

Organizers say sex education in Tennessee is not comprehensive.

"Tennessee-wide we're pushing abstinence only, that's okay, but it's a piece of comprehensive education," said Cherisse Scott, CEO of Sister Reach. "We thought we'd take it a step further and offer comprehensive education here and flush that out and offer domestic violence, teen violence classes because we think that's important."

This is the first year for the health fair; organizers say they do plan to have this event again.
