DESOTO COUNTY, MS (abc24.com) - Lies, forged documents and insufficient child support payments - allegations of misspending continue to pile up against Southaven Mayor Greg Davis.
In addition to his money problems with the city, Davis is in the middle of a bitter battle with his ex-wife Suzann. The two sides were in court Wednesday over their divorce and custody of the couple's three children.
A temporary child support agreement was reached between the couple. The mayor's ex-wife was the only one of the two to show up in Hernando court.
"There's still a gag order in place," said Suzann's lawyer, Martin Zummach, as they left the courthouse.
The gag order issued two weeks ago prevents both attorneys and anyone involved in the couple's custody battle from discussing the case with the media. The judge-issued order was put in place to protect the couple's three daughters.
Suzann is suing the mayor over claims he lied about his income to reduce child support payments. Sworn affidavits by two Southaven aldermen and the police chief claim Davis admitted to ordering a city employee to alter his payroll records.
The couple divorced in June 2011. There has never been court ordered child support until this week. Suzann is asking for $2,750 a month.
Wednesday lawyers reached a temporary agreement. Davis will pay $1,850 a month in child support until the case goes to trial in March.
