Tennessee College Graduates Have Some Of The Lowest Student Debt

Tennessee’s college graduates are leaving school with some of the lowest levels of student debt in the country.

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Tennessee’s college graduates are leaving school with some of the lowest levels of student debt in the country.

The Volunteer State ranked seventh for lowest student debt, with 53 percent of students graduating with debt.

That's according to the personal finance website, Nerdwallet.

Tennessee has an average student debt of $20,703.

That's below the national average, which is more than $26,000.

Nerdwallet says eligibility for the Hope Scholarships and financial aid awards help students tremendously because they aren't tied to loans.
