It's just dogs people!!! It's not the genocide killing of human beings...I know some of the racists white people would rather it be african americans hanging from trees, but you have your God to deal with about that. Get over it...we have bigger issues to deal with than the hanging abuses of a four legged animal...who cares!!

I've watched that Frank Lightfoot, Jr and Archie on the webcams as they 'worked' - mishandling of the felines is just a starting place. Let's pick these two up by their skin and transport them! Makes me SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Frank Lightfoot, Jr is the one seen carying a dog by the skin on the Facebook Memphis Animal Shelter - Take Action page. Throw that waste of air in jail and any other guilty ones - bury the key for a LONG damn time!!! I for one am HAPPY about these arrests! BRAVO to all the HEROS! that stood up for animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This news has MADE MY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are the same men that the Mayor defended as "caring and compassionate" this time last year! He continually waved away concerns about abuses at the shelter and even decided to remove the webcams in support of the employees. Well, Mr. Mayor, if you're really (finally) taking this seriously, get rid of everyone who knew of the abuse and let it continue. Get rid of everyone who mishandles animals. Get rid of everyone who does not carry out their duties in a competent and compassionate manner. And finally, GET A PHOTO OF EVERY, SINGLE ANIMAL THAT COMES THROUGH THAT PLACE AND GET IT POSTED ON PETHARBOR ON INTAKE. Sheesh! It's not hard, it doesn't take more than thirty seconds, but for some reason, it's still not done!

Mayor Wharton stated on his prewritten, teleprompter-read speech that the City would stay vigilent against animal abuse. The City needs to reinstall the webcams and have the transparency he promised in 2009. If all will remember, it is 1)citizens; 2)local advocates; 3)national advocates; 4)The Rotary Club of Memphis; and last but certainly not least...5)employees and 6)volunteers who have stepped forward to speak against the animal abuses and other wrongs at MAS. The Mayor and his staff have done NOTHING but consistently dismissed us all. While I'm very happy about the arrests and am grateful for the efforts of all (especially the undercover officer), this is still pie in the Mayor's face! How many people does it take, Mr. Mayor, for you to truly listen?

First let me say Jen for a great report as usual. All I can do is ask, when will this end? The city sees fit to hire repeat criminals to "care for" lost pets and stray dogs. What can you possibly expect when you hire felons to "mind the shop?" Felons and criminals will do as they were taught. Why hasn't the state or federal government stepped in? Obviously the great "Mayor" is not going to do anything different. You arrest the employees and then hire three more criminals and repeat felons to replace. So I ask when is enough, enough?

Thank you, Jen, and Channel 24, for staying on top of this story. We in the dog rescue community are most pleased at the mayor's recent action. We applaud the City and ask that it continues its vigilance. There is a concern raised by this action. That being that governments, when put on the hot seat, usually go after the lowest people on the ladder. Why haven't the leaders been called on the carpet? You might want to ask for an interview with Director Hooks to find out what she was doing with the videos that were kept from the public but available to her, and that showed the abuse. The public wants more than just the indictments of three technicians! Thanks again, Channel 24.
