MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Blue, Gray, and BBQ. As the NCAA selection committee announced seedings and first round pairings, Tiger fans gathered at One & Only BBQ in East Memphis to see where the U of M was headed.
"I love it. I think Josh is doing a fantastic job. The kids have done great. This is a core Memphis team and it's fantastic. It's an incredible story. I think were going to make a good run and do some damage in the tournament," said Tigers fan Joel Banes.
He and dozens of other fans watched the Selection Sunday results come in, at One & Only BBQ. Cheers of excitement filled the air when Memphis was chosen as a 6th seed.
"Coach Pastner was wanting about a six or seven and I think he projected it real well," said Tigers fan Gordon Crone.
Former Tigers mascot Gordon Crone says he's ready for the team to kick some butt! With BBQ, a Tigers hat and the support of loyal fans, you can't go wrong.
"Thrilled to death for them. They're a wonderful bunch of boys. Wonderful coach," said Tigers fan Amelia Smith.
It won't be until Tuesday night when the Tigers will finally know who they'll play first. They meet the winner of a play-in game between Middle Tennessee and St. Mary's. Memphis' first game is Thursday in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
"I love it. I'm so excited. I mean we've already booked our tickets," said Banes.
