BOLIVAR, TN (abc24.com) - A trial date has been set for the two women accused of helping Adam Mayes with his kidnapping and murder plot last summer.

The trial for Teresa and Mary Mayes is set to start May 16th. Both will be appointed a public defender.

Teresa is the widow of Adam Mayes; she was indicted for especially aggravated kidnapping.

Adam's mother, Mary Mayes, is being held on charges of murder and especially aggravated kidnapping.

TBI Agent Valerie Troutt shared a statement from Teresa during a previous hearing giving details of the kidnapping and murder.

"I got out and saw two bodies in two tarps. Adam told me to pick the bodies up. I screamed and he said 'Shut the hell up and get in the Durango,' and I did. He loaded the bodies of Jo Ann and Adrienne into the hatch of the Durango."

Investigators say Adam Mayes murdered Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter before kidnapping Bain's two other daughters, Alexandria and Kyliyah, and taking them to Mississippi. He committed suicide when rescue teams located him and the kidnapped girls in the woods.
