COVINGTON, TN (abc24.com) - The Tipton County Sheriff's Office is looking for a Covington woman charged with running an illegal gambling operation in her home, all with the help of a local business owner already in custody.

Deputies searched the home of 39-year-old Denise Whitehead and found several illegal gaming machines with cash payoffs. The machines were confiscated, and a warrant was issued for Whitehead's arrest for Aggravated Gambling Promotion.

49-year-old Steven Uttz, who owns a barbecue restaurant in Covington, admitted to investigators that he owned the machines and received a cut of the gambling profits. Uttz was arrested and charged with Aggravated Gambling Promotion; he has since been released on $5,000 bond as he awaits a September 11 court appearance.

If anyone has information on Whitehead’s whereabouts, please call the Tipton County Criminal Investigations Division at (901) 475-3300.
