MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Two suspects are in police custody for an assault and home invasion on Mud Island late Wednesday night.

Memphis police were called to the 1200-block of Island Place Drive at 11 p.m. on April 11. Investigators stated a 31-year-old man was taking out the trash when he was approached by 2 male suspects asking for directions.

As one suspect distracted the victim the other suspect pulled out a gun and forced him into his residence. Once inside they assaulted the man and forced him and another 35-year-old male victim to the ground while they ransacked the home. The suspects fled in a gold Lincoln and a witness called police.

An ambulance transported the assault victim to The MED in non-critical condition.

One of the victims informed officers that the cell phone stolen by the suspects had a tracking device. A couple of hours later, officers located the suspects' vehicle and took two suspects into custody. Charges are still pending as the investigation continues.

Investigators have not stated if the suspects are tied to other robberies in the area.
