MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Put on your party pants and dance shoes.

The humane society of Memphis and Shelby County is hosting it's biggest and most glamorous fundraiser of the year!

The annual "Paw Prints Party" is less than two weeks away.

The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County is celebrating 80 years in the Mid-South.

It got its start at a home in midtown in 1933.

The organization is 100 percent donation funded.

That's where you come in.

A good Samaritan found Pooka and took her to the caring people at the Memphis and Shelby County Humane Society.

Vets had to perform surgery to remove her eye.

Executive director Alexis Amorose says saving lives is the humane society's mission.

She sees injured and abused animals come into the facility all the time.

“Ultimately it comes down to every dollar that comes in means more that we can do to help the animals in this community,” Amorose said.

A stroll through the halls and you'll see the sweet faces being helped.

One look is all you need to be ready to open your wallet, and possibly your home.

The Paw Prints Party takes place August 17th at Opera Memphis.

There will be a live auction, silent auction, great food, and great music from local band Front and Beale.

Tickets are going fast. Call 901-937-3917 to inquire about purchasing tickets.
