MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Kids in Orange Mound are getting a brand new playground. 200 volunteers joined forces to build the playground at Hanley Elementary School.

Before, the school did not have any play equipment. Now more than 700 local kids have a safe place to have fun.

"Our focus is expanding and growing and transforming schools here in the City of Memphis," said Allison Leslie with Aspire Public Schools. "One of the things we recognized was a place for students to play during the school day so that's why we decided to build a playground before school starts."

The new playground was possible through a partnership between Aspire Public Schools and KaBOOM.

Aspire now operates Hanley Elementary as a charter school.

KaBOOM is a national non-profit that provides playgrounds and spaces for kids to stay active.
