MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A man has been charged with first-degree murder after his girlfriend was found dead on Monday, November 14, 2011, in South Memphis.
An affidavit says 44-year-old Willie Irby, Jr., confessed to shooting his girlfriend, Tashuner Dixon, about an hour and a half after doing so.
The document says police found Dixon dead from a gunshot wound to the head in the 200 block of Butler in South Memphis. Witnesses told police that Dixon and Irby, Jr., were arguing inside his apartment before taking it outside. The two continued arguing in a parking lot when Irby, Jr., pulled out a gun and shot Dixon in the head.
Irby, Jr., fled the scene after telling his father that he shot Dixon in the head.
During his confession, Irby, Jr., told police he threw the gun out of the car he drove away from the scene.
