MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The University of Tennessee Health Science Center has received a federal grant to provide services for foster children.
Many children have been traumatized before they are placed with a foster family, and the $1.4 million grant will help provide more effective assistance to them.
The Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities will work with Camelot Care Center across the state to provide training for foster parents and staff in understanding trauma, its impact on children and more effective ways to interact with children and their care.
Other partners in the program are Child and Adolescent Services and School Behavioral Health as well as Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, Ky.
