Goodwill employees find hand grenade in donation

Bomb squad responded to store

As employees of a California Goodwill were looking through a new box of donations, they were surprised to find a hand grenade, reports The Los Angeles Times.

Authorities say an elderly woman left the box at the Placentia Goodwill Wednesday afternoon. Nearby businesses were evacuated while the Orange County Sheriff's Department's bomb squad responded to the store. About two hours after the initial call, officials declared the area safe.

Placentia police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
