MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com)--Judge Joe Brown has officially entered the race for Shelby County District Attorney. The former
Judge Brown addressed the Memphis Rotary Club in Midtown Tuesday. During his talk, he spoke of his experiences as litigator and how
"Well, let's see. If I rely on what's in the back of my mind, which I shut off so that I could be nonpartisan for this then at 3:15 today I will be filing my petition for the Shelby County DA," Brown told the group.
The tough talking, no nonsense television judge did just that Tuesday afternoon. He says he's doing it all because of a call to service. Judge Brown says he's been well aware of the political landscape of the
Celebrity will play a huge factor in his campaign bid and he is not afraid of its influence.
"I will have no problem with the name recognition part," Brown said. "Everywhere I go people are looking."
Judge Brown spoke extensively about how the justice system is run here in
District Attorney Amy Weirich didn't have much of a comment regarding Judge Brown.
"My job everyday is to be the wife, the best mother to my four children and the best DA of Shelby County," said Weirich.
Qualifying deadline for the election is Thursday, February 20th at
