Carjacking Suspect Leads Police On Chase Through Cordova

A carjacking in Cordova led police on a chase through Cordova, injuring an officer and causing multiple accidents.

CORDOVA, TN (localmemphis.com)--A carjacking in Cordova led police on a chase through Cordova, injuring an officer and causing multiple accidents.

According to police, a white male carjacked a man at the Red Robin at Germantown Parkway and Cordova Rd. around 4:00 p.m. He apparently also committed a burglary at the Cordova YMCA before the carjacking. 

The suspect took off in the victim's Cadillac and police officers caught up with him and pursuit began.

At one point, the suspect was trying to ram police cars involved in the pursuit. One squad car was hit, injuring the officer. The officer was taken to The MED in non-critical consition. A second squad car was also hit by the suspect, but the officer was not injured. 

The suspect wrecked at Dexter Rd. and Chimneyrock Blvd. and was trapped in the car. Police had to wait for the fire department to get the suspect out of the car so he could be taken into custody. The suspect was eventually taken to The MED in non-critical condition. 

The situation was reported under control at 4:30 pm.
