Memphis police are looking for the driver of a car involved in a deadly accident early Saturday morning.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com)--Memphis police are looking for the driver of a car involved in a deadly accident early Saturday morning.

Memphis police were called to the 700 block of North Watkins Street around 3:00 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived on the scene, they found one car with five people trapped inside. Memphis firefighters extricated four passengers from the vehicle and transport them to The MED. One female, identified as 19-year-old Shakerri Dupree, was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigators say the driver of the car ran from the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the five passengers caught a ride with an unknown man from a nightclub on Jackson Ave. The man was driving a 1997 green Ford Taurus.

Investigators say the driver was traveling northbound on Watkins St. when it left the roadway, hitting two trees and a house. The driver ran from the scene before officers and paramedics made it to the scene.
