Police Make Second Arrest In Jackson Double Homicide

Jackson police have charged and arrested the second man responsible for the Wednesday night murders of Markel Owens, 21, Johnny Shivers, 36, and attempted murder of Chermaine Owens in a home invasion robbery on Walker Road in Jackson, TN.
JACKSON, TN (localmemphis.com) - Jackson police have charged and arrested the second man responsible for the Wednesday night murders of Markel Owens, 21, Johnny Shivers, 36, and attempted murder of Chermaine Owens in a home invasion robbery on Walker Road in Jackson, TN.

Investigators developed the case and determined that Johnny Wade, 19, of Jackson, was the second robber and gunman with Derrick Wade, 22, of Jackson.

On Friday, investigators signed a warrant for the arrest of Johnny Wade.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force developed information on Johnny Wade's location. Around 6 a.m. today, the Marshals Task Force and Ripley police arrested Wade at a Ripley, TN home. The task force is comprised of Deputy U.S. Marshals and Investigators from the Jackson Police Department's Gang Unit and Jackson- Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit.

Derrick Wade and Johnny Wade are both in custody at the Madison County Jail.

At 8:30 a.m. today, Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson ordered Derrick Wade held with no bond. Judge Anderson will review Johnny Wade's charges Sunday morning and determine a bond amount. Based on the charges, Judge Anderson may also order Johnny Wade held with no bond.

Derrick Wade and Johnny Wade are both charged with two counts of felony murder of Markel Owens and Johnny Shivers, especially aggravated robbery of Shivers, attempted first-degree murder of Chermaine Owens, aggravated assault of a 16-yearold boy and tampering with evidence.

Both men are scheduled to be formally arraigned via video link at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Jackson City Court.
