Tipton County, TN -- The Tipton County Sheriff's Office was investigating late Saturday following an officer-involved shooting outside of Drummonds.
Chief Deputy Donna Turner said the shooting happened just after 5 p.m. On the 200 block of Watkins, a dead-end road about 30 miles north of Memphis.
Turner said deputies were at the house searching for a man wanted on a parole violation. Family members at the scene said the man's son then came out of the house with a gun, and wouldn't listen to deputies when they ordered him to drop the gun.
One man, who said he was cousins with the man, said he heard at least 4 gun shots.
Turner said agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were at the scene, and would lead the investigation.
As deputies scoured the scene Saturday night, family members of the man who had been shot gathered nearby. One man said he was surprised, saying the man who would shot would do anything for anybody, and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
More details were not available late Saturday.
