MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Two people were shot after an argument near the Millington Naval base Thursday.

Officials said the shooting took place at the National Guard Armory, a non-secure part of the Naval Base property.

The NCIS and ATF are investigating.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, a disgruntled employee walked off the base to his car, got a gun, and shot two people.

The two injured are in non critical condition. According to officials, one was shot in the foot and the other in the lower leg.

The sheriff's office said the shooter, a black male in his late 30s, was taken into custody.

He reportedly had a small glock gun. He appeared to be "in a daze" and was "as quiet as a church mouse." When police arrived, two other people had him pinned to the ground. He was taken to the Millington Police Department where officials said he complained about a medical problem. An ambulance was called to the scene to check him out.

The two victims were two high ranking officials from Murfreesboro who had come down to relieve the suspect of duty.

The U.S. Navy released a statement on their website

We have crews on the way to the scene, and will bring you the latest details as they become available.
