With Tactical Unit Under Review, SWAT Team Gets More Work

The sheriff's SWAT team is handling some extra cases now because the Memphis' Police Department's TACT unit is under review.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - The sheriff's SWAT team is handling some extra cases now because the Memphis' Police Department's TACT unit is under review.

The department is conducting the internal review after a barricade situation at a home earlier this month.

The Memphis Police Department said the supervisory staff of the tact unit has been restructured.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office SWAT team will respond to situations where a tactical unit is needed while the investigation continues.

The investigation comes after an October 15 barricade situation involving Aaron Dumas, who had an active attempted murder warrant.

During the standoff, two TACT officers were shot when Dumas fired from the house.
