Memphis-area dignitaries are getting a sneak-peek at the city's sprawling new Electrolux factory.

The Delta Regional Authority says officials are scheduled to check on improvements to a key road at a Memphis industrial park.

More than a thousand jobs are expected in the next couple of years when Mitsubishi and Electrolux open their factories. Those jobs won't mean a thing if people in Memphis aren't qualified for them. Watch Video

Mayor Wharton says he doesn't like it, but the only way to get a lot of companies to bring jobs to Memphis is to give them every type of break possible. Following a letter from Memphis and Shelby County leaders, Electrolux has vowed to increase its commitment to use local contractors and businesses while constructing the appliance company's new multimillion dollar Memphis facility.

After plenty of talking and some complaining, both city and county mayors say they trust Electrolux. However, the key will be whether minority and women-owned businesses can trust them. Watch Video
