Brittani Moncrease

Brittani Moncrease is a Multi-Skilled Journalist for ABC24 Memphis and CW30. Brittani joined the team in October 2019.

Brittani has a passion for storytelling, she enjoys sharing the moments, interactions, and emotions of what drives Mid-Southerners and brings them together. Her stories throughout the Mid-South have enabled her to interview pioneers such as Ms. Opal Lee (Grandmother of Juneteenth), Actor and Director Debbie Allen, and community leader, Ms. Mary Mitchell. She has also covered major events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 snow/ice storms. Her stories have revealed the conditions in the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex during the pandemic and led to the early compassionate release of an inmate serving a two-decade sentence.

Before moving to Memphis, Brittani worked as a Video Journalist/Reporter for Spectrum News in Syracuse, New York. She reported on some of Central New York’s and the Southern Tier’s top stories while also filling in on the anchor desk and traffic reporting. Her follow up series on the kidnapping of Brittany Fish gained the attention of the Dr. Phil Show and allowed Brittani to be featured as an expert guest.

Prior to her time in New York, Brittani worked at the CBS-affiliate in Philadelphia as a Production Assistant, Assignment Desk Editor and Digital Producer. She also produced the daily segments Good Question and The Digital Brief.

Brittani is a graduate of Howard University earning her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and master’s in Public Policy. She was an Annenberg Honors Fellow Lionel Chapman Fellow for ABC Nightline and Emma Bowen Foundation Fellow.

Brittani is a native of Michigan but proud to make Memphis her new home. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and Memphis Chapter (MABJ) of the National Association of Black Journalists. When not on a story she enjoys researching the history of Black Medical Schools and Colleges with her family, traveling and spending time with her dog, Bella.
