Ed Echols is the Weekend Meteorologist and Weekday Reporter for Local 24 News and CW30.
Ed started his career in Broadcasting in Knoxville, Tennessee, while attending the University of Tennessee. After graduation, he moved back to Memphis is hometown to work for Rock 103 and WREC Radio. A couple of years later, he moved to Dallas, Texas to work for the CBS O&O KTXQ, one of the top Rock Stations in the country.
After seven years there, he found his true calling in weather. He enrolled at Mississippi State and moved to the great state of Mississippi, where he studied Operation Meteorology and Atmospheric Science.
After graduating, he started as Weekend Meteorologist at WXVT in Greenville, Mississippi, and later was promoted to Chief Meteorologist. He spent almost four years there, while commuting to WHBQ in Memphis on the weekends. After a year and half, he moved up to Memphis full-time as the Weekend Meteorologist. After a couple years, he was promoted to the morning show there full-time.
After almost 12 years at WHBQ, he has found a new home at Local 24 and CW 30 with another great group of professionals.
Ed is also a member of the American Meteorological Society and carries their Seal of Approval.
He is also a member of the National Weather Association and proud recipient of their Seal of Approval. He is also the recipient of two Best Weathercast awards from the Associated Press of Mississippi.
