MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Steffen Reals joined ABC24 as a Multi-Skilled Journalist in September 2022.

Before coming to Memphis, Reals spent time at a few stations across the country. He worked as an intern at WSLS10 in Roanoke, VA. Reals spent this time shadowing reporters, anchors and writing stories for the web.

After graduating, Reals joined KSNF in Joplin, MO as a reporter and weekend anchor. There, Reals primarily focused on stories across Southeast Kansas, covering hopefuls for the Tokyo Olympic Games, the energy crisis many rural communities faced from the 2021 winter storm and the local impacts of Russia invasion of Ukraine.

Unlike some, his interest in news did not start until Reals was in the middle of college. While living in Oslo, Norway he became involved in the city-wide student television station where he hosted a show focusing on pop-culture news. Reals was later approached by management to launch a second show where he would attend movie screenings prior to release. It was at these screenings he got shoulder to shoulder with reporters from the national news, and he knew that’s what he wanted to do.

When Reals returned to the United States the Blacksburg, VA native attended his hometown university Virginia Tech. He eventually graduated with a degree in Multimedia Journalism and a minor in Chemistry.

When not in the field he can either be found on his search to find the best cup of coffee or in his kitchen baking up a storm while listening to music from the 90’s and early 00’s.

Feel free to say hei (A Norwegian hello) if you see him around town, or contact him online.
