National Civil Rights Museum hosts Unpacking Racism for Actions Series

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) — The Mid-South community came together to talk about work being done to bring about solidarity.

Relevant racial issues were placed on the table for discussion at the National Civil Rights Museum Wednesday night. Community leaders presented personal lessons to help motivate create a better society for us all.

Organizer Edith Gnanadass says the event was inspired by National Civil Rights Museum’s Unpacking Racism for Actions Series.

“Memphis has a rich history, but it also has a history that is steeped in racism,” said Gnanadass. “So, it is very important for us to come together around issues of racial justice and equality.”

“Unpacking Racism for Action” is a series of seven dialogue sessions, held each 2nd Tuesday each month at the National Civil Rights Museum, focusing on issues of implicit bias, structural, and institutional racism.
