MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Tiger Lane was packed Thursday morning with hundredsof kids from all 25 Memphis area community centers. They were participating inthe Ultimate Multicultural Game Day sponsored by the City of Memphis and theDivision of Parks and Neighborhoods.

The kids had a two-week crash course in learning about the cultures of Mexico, South Africa, and China, which culminated in Thursday’s celebration showcasing the food, culture, dance, and history of these countries.

Youth and Family Services Administrator TiffanyMcCollins said the ultimate goal was to bring all of the community centerstogether in one location to showcase what the kids have learned over thesummer.

“It gives them a positive outlook and perspective onfun. We sent them home for the end of the summer with a bang,” says McCollins.

McCollins added that the event was entirely freethanks to Mayor Strickland.

“The mayor wanted everything that dealt with kids andyouth today, Player Park and the community centers, so we were innovativeand creative in finding a way to bring them all together,” saysMcCollins.
