African American read-in recognizes and supports black writers

South Branch Library in South Memphis held their first African American read-in Tuesday.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – South Branch Library in South Memphis held their first African American read-in Tuesday.

It was part of their Black History Month celebration to recognize and support black writers.

Local 24 News anchor Katina Rankin was honored to be one of the guest authors. She spoke about the process of writing her first children’s book, “Up North, Down South: City Folk Meet Country Folk.”
